  • Passport: Must be valid for at least 6 months from your date of entry with at least two blank pages.
  • E-Visa (90 Days): Indian citizens are now eligible for a 90-day e-Visa (Single or Multiple Entry).
  • Travel Ready: Carry printed copies of your E-visa, return flight tickets, and hotel vouchers. Immigration officers often request to see these before stamping your entry.
  • Vietnamese Dong (VND): Official currency. 1 INR is approx. 300–330 VND.
  • The “USD” Rule: Carry crisp, new USD bills (post-2013 series) for the best exchange rates. Local shops do not accept INR.
  • ATMs: Widely available in cities. Use ATMs attached to banks (like Vietcombank or BIDV) to avoid skimming and high fees.
  • Strict Airline Policy: Budget carriers (VietJet, AirAsia) and even Vietnam Airlines are very strict in 2026.
  • Cabin Bag: 7kg limit (includes your laptop bag/handbag).
  • Check-in: Ensure your ticket includes 20kg–23kg; otherwise, pre-book online to avoid 3x higher charges at the airport.
  • Climate Zones: Vietnam has three distinct zones. If visiting the North (Hanoi/Sapa) between Nov–Feb, a warm jacket is mandatory. The South (HCMC/Mekong) remains tropical year-round.
  • E-SIM vs. Physical SIM: Purchase an E-SIM before you land for instant data. If buying at the airport, stick to major networks: Viettel (best coverage), Vinaphone, or Mobifone.
  • Power: Vietnam uses Type A, C, and F sockets. A universal adapter is highly recommended for Indian 3-pin plugs.
  • Safe Water: Never drink tap water. Use bottled water or the filtered water dispensers provided at hotels.
